Senior Kinder and Prime

For our seven-year-old students, we have two different levels. Depending on their existing level of knowledge and exposure to school, they can be placed into either Senior Kinder or Prime.

Senior Kinder is for students that have had at least one year of kindergarten experience with English as the primary language. Their base English level is a little bit more developed, which allows more refinement of their skills as the year progresses.

Prime is for our new students. If your child is coming into kindergarten for the first time, this class is made just for them. They’ll cover a lot of the same topics as Senior Kinder but with a lot more focus on building the basics to allow the children to develop and be ready for Elementary school the next year!

Self-reliance and building character

Now that your child is getting ready for Elementary school, we want to help them be able to function with a little less direct input. As part of our classes, we give the children more agency to try things themselves. Even something as simple as being able to do their arrival routine themselves, while the teacher is there just in case, can be a major self-confidence booster. Both of our classes in this age range push for the kids to be able to do more to build their ability to interact with the world on their own terms.

Building Phonics in small groups

In Senior Kinder and Prime, we work on improving our students phonics skills by creating small groups to better suit each students particular needs. Even among students that are brand new to English, differences in how they learn can emerge, so we focus on making sure each student has as much attention as they need to improve their English ability.

Learning beyond just speaking

With our older Kindergarten students, we like to teach them skills beyond just the normal English skills. Social skills, being a good citizen, how to express yourself. Even something like American Sign Language for basic ideas. Our students find new and interesting ways to express their ideas through our classes!
